Take off all hardware then tape around any areas where you don t want paint to inadvertently land.
Cleaning kitchen cabinets before painting.
I prefer to use dawn dish soap.
Rinse thoroughly and allow the cabinets to dry before painting.
Wipe down the cabinets with a rag dipped in a mix of straight vinegar or a 1 1 mix of vinegar and warm water with a few drops of liquid dish soap.
And i always recommend cleaning down cabinetry in the kitchen bath or laundry room prior to painting.
Leave the abrasive cleaners and scrub brushes to your sink.
Do use a gentle cleaning solution.
You don t want to have to work harder to sand off all the extra grease on your kitchen cabinets and you don t want to be painting over grease.
Clean them as good as you can getting in all the nooks and crannies.
No matter the painting occasion this is what i do at the purple painted lady.
It still attacks the grease and that is what you want to get rid of and isn t as stinky as the denatured alcohol.
To make it a bit easier we use brushes that you can attach to a drill or impact driver.
It is recommended that you thoroughly clean your cabinets before painting with a sponge and denatured alcohol.
And after you re done drink a nice glass of wine to celebrate your superhuman cleaning skills.
Make sure you clean both sides of the doors and drawers and all the nooks and crannies of the frames.
First clean with mineral spirits then wipe it down with a rag that is moistened with clean fresh water.
